Welcome to Crowan Primary School

Welcome back to school everyone! We hope that you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas break and are looking forward to a brilliant 2012!

Crowan Primary School has now officially acquired foundation status and is looking forward to working productively with the other members and partners of the Helston & Lizard Peninsula Education Trust to raise aspirations and standards across the cluster. The co-operative trust model ensures a keen voice for stakeholders and we are, as ever, happy to hear how we can work more closely with our local community in the interests of the children. Mr. Willis and Mrs. Penberthy are our new Trust Governors but you can approach any member of staff or governor with suggestions and ideas for school improvement.

We believe in providing a broad and balanced curriculum, supported where possible with genuine experiences of the world around us. We work hard to learn about each and every child, using this knowledge to motivate, encourage and care for them throughout their time at our school.

We hope that you find this website both interesting and informative, but we would welcome your suggestions about how we can make further improvements. Please email your thoughts to enquiries@crowan.cornwall.sch.uk.

Crowan Primary School is committed to ensuring the health, safety and well-being of each member of staff and pupil. Safeguarding policies are listed under the Governors tab and are available upon request from the school office. The Child Protection Policy can be downloaded from the website. Our Designated Child Protection Officer is Mr. Paul Hunkin. In his absence Mrs. Margaret Northey will deputise in this role. It is the responsibility of all staff to share information about the safety of children and advice will be sought where necessary from the Local Area Designated Officer whenever there are child protection concerns.

'The headteacher promotes a good commitment to continued improvement and this is shared well by the governors and all the staff who work in the school.’ (OFSTED 2010)

'The view of two parents accurately sum up the school: "Crowan is a well-run and friendly school. The staff are extremely kind and very helpful and quick to sort out any problems."

Another said, "Our daughter loves school. She is being encouraged to learn and enjoys the environment she is in." (OFSTED 2007)
