Children

There are presently 90 children within the school.

The children begin their schooling within Releath Class with Mrs. Margaret Northey, which is currently a class of straight Reception children. The emphasis is upon practical learning experiences which enthuse the children's curiosity and build imaginatively upon their own interests.

Trenoweth Class with Miss.Hannah Phillips has a mixture of Year 1 and Year 2 children. Here the children work from key stage 1 of the National Curriculum. Their growing knowledge and understanding is assessed periodically throughout the year and statutory end of key stage 1 SATs are undertaken towards the end of Year 2 to help inform their teacher's on-going assessment of their attainment in Reading, Writing and Mathematics.

This year there are Year 3, Year 4 and some Year 5 children with Mrs. Vicci Gillam in Pengelly Class. The children are now working within key stage 2 and developing their skills for independent learning. The children undertake option SATs in May to contribute assessment information to the on-going assessments made by the class-teacher and Teaching Assistants.

Crenver Class is taught by Mr. Paul Hunkin and Mrs. Jackie Spoors and is comprised of Year 5 and Year 6 children. The Year 5 children sit optional SATs in May and the Year 6 children undertake the statutory end of key stage 2 SATs at this time also.

There are a number of transition events and opportunities provided for the children in Year 5 & 6 by both Camborne Science & Community College and Helston School.
